Venezuela is one of the most underappreciated rum-producing nations in the world. Shaped by a continental climate and a tradition of slow, patient aging, Venezuelan rum is known for its richness, depth, and complexity — a style that rewards those who seek it out.
Distilled in 2005 at C.A.D.C. (Destillerías Corporación Alcoholes del Caribe) and matured for 17 years, this single cask expression was carefully selected by the Duncan Taylor tasting panel and bottled at 50.2% without chill filtration and with no artificial coloring or added flavoring. It is an authentic, unfiltered expression of what Venezuelan rum can be at its finest.
Tasting Notes
Color: Light mahogany
Nose: Caramel, coffee beans, roasted chestnuts, nutmeg.
Palate: Rich, fruity, black pepper, sea salt.
Finish: Spicy, dry, white pepper.
How to Drink It
Neat: The recommended way — the caramel, coffee, and roasted chestnut character opens up beautifully at cask strength.
With Water: A few drops soften the pepper and bring the nutmeg and fruit forward.
In Cocktails: The rich, spiced profile makes a natural base for a rum Old Fashioned or a Boulevardier-style serve.
