Specially selected from the ancient whisky archives at Duncan Taylor, this incredibly rare whisky was distilled at the renowned Macallan Distillery, in the heart of the Highlands of Scotland. Since 1824, The Macallan havs been demonstrating the excellence of spirit and cask to craft stunning whiskies which are celebrated around the world.
Cask No. 8376 started as an ex bourbon cask and was filled on September 10, 1969 and matured until December 22, 2016. It was then transferred to a first fill ex-Oloroso Sherry cask until bottling on July 27, 2022.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Polished bronze
Nose: Rich, dark chocolate with notes of overripe orange peel shining through. Hints of cinnamon and dusty spices, with a touch of aniseed, sweet wood and creamy vanilla.
Palate: Rich, toffee and demerara sugar bound into caramel biscuits. Fruitiness is more subdued and more reminiscent of underripe fruits, perfectly balanced, with a little spice on the front of the tongue.
Finish: leather and warm woods and spice round out the finish.
