Duncan Taylor Single Cask Rum Uitvlugt, Guyana 1997 - 24 Years - Cask No. 4

Uitvlugt distillery closed in 2000. Its stills were relocated to Diamond distillery, where they continue to operate — but rum distilled at the original Uitvlugt site is gone. This cask is one of the last.

Distilled in 1997 at Uitvlugt in Guyana and matured for 24 years, this single cask expression was carefully selected by the Duncan Taylor tasting panel and bottled at 48.1% without chill filtration and with no artificial coloring or added flavoring. Uitvlugt produced a style of rum that was distinctly its own — tropical, maritime, and deeply complex — and surviving single cask expressions like this are among the only ways to experience it.

Tasting Notes

Color: Warm chestnut

Nose: Peppery, brown sugar, oak wood, maritime, toffee.

Palate: Exotic fruits of papaya and pineapple, drying, caramel richness.

Finish: Grassy and herbal with a hint of earthy oak.

How to Drink It

Neat: The recommended way — the papaya, pineapple, and caramel complexity rewards patience in the glass.

With Water: A few drops open up the maritime and toffee notes on the nose.

In Cocktails: The tropical fruit and herbal profile makes a striking base for a Daiquiri or a rum Old Fashioned.
