A limited single cask release from Duncan Taylor's acclaimed Octave series, featuring Invergordon — a Highland grain distillery established in 1959 and one of Scotland's most respected producers of single grain whisky.
Distilled in 2009 at Invergordon and matured for 8 years, this Single Grain Scotch Whisky was finished in Octave cask #5215213 — approximately one-eighth the size of a traditional butt. The smaller cask increases interaction between the whisky and the wood, adding richness, balance, and complexity while preserving the grain whisky's natural character.
Bottled at its natural 55.1% cask strength with no chill filtration and no added color, this limited single cask release offers an authentic expression of both the distillery and Duncan Taylor's innovative Octave maturation.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Luscious soft cane fruit smothered with caramel syrup. Some subtle light spices, cloves and cinnamon.
Palate: More cane fruit. Blackberries in syrup. Cadbury's fruit and nut chocolate with extra raisins. All rounded off with a touch of white pepper.
Finish: Long, smooth and very warming. More creaminess develops to match the fruits.
How to Drink It
Neat: The recommended way to experience this release — rich and approachable at cask strength.
With Water: A few drops open up the caramel and spice layers beautifully.
In Cocktails: The cane fruit and chocolate profile makes a natural base for an Old Fashioned or a rich Whisky Sour.
