Caledonian was built in Edinburgh in 1855 and was for many years Scotland's largest distillery producing grain whisky for the large blenders. The distillery closed in 1988 and demolished to make way for residential apartments. However the original 300ft chimney was preserved and is still one of the largest Victorian towers in Scotland.
Tasting Notes:
Distillery: Caledonian (Single Grain Scotch Whisky)
Colour: Soft gold
Nose: Ripe peaches with pouring cream, balanced with delicate oral notes. Orange blossom and rose.
Palate: Silky and clean. Nostalgic of a classic sweet shop; avours of pear drops and humbugs.
Finish: Long and elegant with a lingering sweetness. Herbal, like a cup of Jasmine tea with manuka honey.
ABV: 52.9%
Size: 750 ml
