A limited single cask release from Duncan Taylor's acclaimed Octave series, featuring Girvan — a Lowland grain distillery rarely seen as a single grain bottling.
Distilled in 2007 at Girvan and matured for 11 years, this Single Grain Scotch Whisky was finished in an ex-sherrywood Octave cask #2117967 — approximately one-eighth the size of a traditional sherry butt. The smaller cask increases interaction between the whisky and the wood, adding richness, balance, and complexity while preserving the grain whisky's naturally light and approachable character.
Bottled at its natural 52.6% cask strength with no chill filtration and no added color, this limited single cask release offers a rare opportunity to experience Girvan outside of its usual role in blended Scotch.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Citrusy, lemon peel, fresh, malty, apple skins.
Palate: Sugared almonds, grassy, juicy oak, cherries, marzipan.
Finish: Medium and elegant, with lingering marzipan, cherry, and a gentle citrus fade.
How to Drink It
Neat: The recommended way to experience this release — light and approachable at cask strength.
With Water: A few drops open up the lemon peel and apple notes on the nose.
In Cocktails: The marzipan and cherry profile makes a natural base for a Whisky Sour or a light Highball.
