The Tantalus Caperdonich 1972 Single Malt Scotch Whisky - 41 Years - Cask No. C6740

Caperdonich distillery closed in 2002. The buildings were demolished in 2010. No new Caperdonich whisky will ever be made.

What remains are the casks that were already maturing when the stills fell silent — and this is one of them. Distilled in 1972 and matured for 41 years, this single cask expression represents one of the last opportunities to experience Caperdonich as it was intended: at full cask strength, unfiltered, and unaltered.

The Duncan Taylor Tantalus is a collection reserved for Scotland's most exceptional whiskies: single malts and single grains matured for 30 years or more in premium oak casks previously holding Bourbon, Sherry, or Port. Each expression is bottled at natural cask strength, without chill filtration, and without added color.

This release is presented in a hand-blown glass decanter, housed in an elegant Tantalus crafted from the very oak casks that matured the whisky. Exclusively designed for Duncan Taylor, it is as much a piece of whisky history as it is a dram.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Pouring cream, pineapple, tea, honey.

Palate: Sanguinello oranges, grassy, white chocolate, white pepper.

Finish: Mellow and fruity, with a hint of oak.
